Rexing has other V1 models that have are dual dash cams, but in this review we are comparing the V1 solo dash cam models. (Here are all the Rexing Reviews)
We’ll go over their features and look at current prices, so you can decide which single dash cam models is best for you, should you consider buying a solo camera dashcam. By the way, a solo dashcam only has one camera, normally facing towards the front of the vehicle. Dual dash cameras will have a camera that records forward, and can either record the interior of the vehicle or the rear view.

The difference between the V1GW and the V1 Max in the video recording. The V1GW is 2160p at 30fps and the V1Max is 3840 x 2160 UHD at 30fps, which is 4 times higher than regular 1080p recording.
All these Rexing V1 models have these similar specs and come with:

A Super Capacitor is a premium alternative to a lithium-ion battery that features enhanced temperature resistance to hot and cold climates. The V1 Basic has a 320mAh li-ion battery.
The internal battery is just for emergency file backup, please always keep the dash cam plugged in. A Smart hardwire kit is required for parking monitor features or any recording when the vehicle is off.
Design and Interface
One of the nice things of the Rexing V1 series of dash cam is their wedge-shaped design that sticks directly and snugly to the windshield. This reduces visual impairment keeping it out of the driver’s peripheral vision. Other dashcams can be boxy and squared, where as the V1’s design fits the glass as you would expect a dash camera would.
Because of the way it fits the glass, the buttons just seem more readily available than other dashcams. Still not the best, but better than most.
When it comes to the interface, even though the buttons are easy to see and big enough, it can take some getting use to how they function and what they do. Make sure to go through the manual and familiarize yourself.
The Rexing V1 comes with a 3M adhesive strip and plastic mount that allows for it to fit so snugly on the on the windshield. During testing, it held firm and actually produced less bouncing than dashcams on suction cups. It’s still easy to slide on and off.
You can buy alternative mounting, but i wouldn’t.
There are a few things that can cause corruption in recordings from most dashcams, vibration and temperature. This wedge design of the Rexing V1 and their super capacitor seem targeted at reducing this issue which runs rampart with so many dash cams on the market. Just think about it, if you leave your cell phone on the dashboard of your vehicle during a hot day, do you not get a temperature warning? What about when you affix something you to windshield with a suction cup, does it not vibrate some with the bump on the road?
The Rexing V1 Basic
Full HD Video & Super Night Vision
The V1 Dashcam uses a Sony Exmor IMX323 CMOS image sensor which helps it with it daytime and night time video clarity. The daytime 1080p video quality is good, a little muted in the with the colors. Night time video is also good, but can have a bit or glare. When you compare the video quality to other similarly priced dash cameras, I would say that it is within range.
The Camera on the V1GW and V1 Max is much better, at a slightly higher price.
Parking Mode
All four of the dash cams come with parking mode, but you will need to add the smart hardwire kit. The V1 parking mode works if the camera detects vibrations while the vehicle is turned off. The camera will turn on and records for 20 seconds, which will be locked to prevent overwriting.
170 Degree Field of View
170 degree field of view is pretty standard for most better dash cameras, with some of the cheaper brands having only 140 degree.
You do get some a little bit of distortion as it’s not a flat view, but this is common throughout dash cams with 170 degree view.
Rexing V1 Loop Recording and Gravity Sensor
Video can be recorded in 1, 2 or 3 minute intervals. When the storage limit is reached on the memory card, new recordings will automatically overwrite the oldest recordings. Locked videos will be kept safe from being overwritten.
When the built-in gravity sensor detects a collision, the current video is locked, ensuring important footage is kept protected.
Card Requirements – Class 10 / UHS-I or higher MicroSD/SDHC/SDXC memory card up to 256GB (not included from Rexing). Rexing ask you DO NOT use SanDisk Ultra with their Dashcams.
Rexing does not include a memory card with the dashcams, even though I listed this as a con on this Rexing V1 review, I appreciate that you can buy a separate memory card of your choosing. If you are getting one of the 1080p dashcams, then a smaller memory card would work. It’s when you are choosing for one the 4K dashcams with GPS tracking that you will want a faster, and large memory card, as those dash cameras record more information and can overly consume a smaller card.

Here is the Rexing V1 Basic introduction video and a Video Review
Rexing V1-4k Ultra HD with Wi-FI
The Rexing V1-4K adds WiFi and 4K resolution to the features of the V1 dashcam. The V1-4K can add a GPS, but I would go with the V1GW at that point. Also added is the Rexing Super Capacitor that can withstand extreme temperatures from -20 to 176°F, helping to prevent the risk of overheating, and extending the life span and reliability of the camera.
Everything else is similar, same design, same buttons.
Wifi Connection allows you to view, save and share dash cam recordings wirelessly on your mobile device with the use of an app interface.
The price also increase, but the features are well worth it. The video quality is much better, enough so that you can read license plates with some level of clarity.
Because of today technology and phones, I like that you can download the videos to the phone. Let’s say you are involved in an accident, you can download the video right to your phone and have it handy.

V1GW – 4k Ultra HD with Built-in GPS Logger and Wi-FI
The Rexing V1GW comes with all the above mentioned features and adds a built-in GPS.
The built-in GPS logger on the Rexing V1GW can show you the time, speed, or location of your vehicle while traveling. You simply connect to the Rexing Connect App or download their GPS Logger Software on your computer and upload the dashcam video to view where exactly you’ve gone or been.
This is great for parents with younger kids starting to drive. Not just can you observe your child’s driving habits, their speed, where they went, but also obtain audio from inside the vehicle.
Protect Yourself in case of a Crash
Should there be an accident, not just does the G-Sensor lock the recording to ensure it is not going to be overwritten or erased, but the built-in GPS show the speed and travel of the vehicle. You can then download the recording to your phone through the Wi-FI connection and show it to the authorities or insurance company to protect you.
V1 Max 4k with Wi-Fi and GPS
The Rexing V1 Max with WiFi and GPS adds an impressive REAL 4K video while utilizing WIDE DYNAMIC RANGE allowing the V1Pro dash cam to perform well in low light situations by F/1.6 6 glass lens carefully fine-tuning the exposure. 170 degree ultra wife angle lenses on the dash camera open up to capture broad views of their surroundings. Basically it is a very wide angle view of the road ahead, better than average 4K.
By now you understand I really like these dashcams and this Rexing V1 Review was fun doing. I think the features in all these Rexing dashcams are great, and function as they should. The dashcams are well built, durable, and Rexing has a US based customer service department that will help you through any issues.
